I think I was kind of sad to see what Ty had become, because he is the wunderkind he is. It is a very realistic trajectory given what he has been through in his life, but I just wished that he had had it easier in the gap years – I’m a romantic like that. I knew that Ty and Bear couldn’t be together forever, and that Ty had to grow up and find new friends, but since their relationship was a huge draw for me towards the first two books, I thought it was a shame that it wasn’t all that present.

I also really loved Ben and wish there had been more scenes with him. The love story wasn’t overwhelming, and I seemed similar to Bear and Otter’s, and Tyson has turned into Bear a little bit with his mind ramblings, so all in all, it was a little too similar to Bear and Otter’s books for me.

I enjoyed living in the universe a little longer and revisiting all the characters, and I will also be reading the last book in the series, but I wasn’t blown away by this third installment.

One person found this helpful. This story was different just because this story is told from Ty, the Kid’s, point of view. Not that that’s a bad thing. I actually liked the change. So, this story is about Ty. We’ve known him since his mother abandoned him when he was six years old, although the majority of Ty and Bear’s story before this book takes place when he’s nine.

So, to see him as an adult he’s 19 in this book was a change The thing is, Ty has always been brilliant and headed for a great future. But what his mother put him and Bear through has had it’s effects It’s not an easy story, especially after having watched him grow up. In this story, Ty is lost and it’s heartbreaking to watch especially at first. Of course, his entire ‘family’ is still trying to support him, but much like his big brother, Bear, Ty has a really hard time letting others in to help.

But in the midst of all the trauma and drama there were still so many laugh out loud moments. So many of them happened because of Ty realizing just how much like Bear he is And can I just say I love it when authors do that I loved this story so, so much. Ty’s romance is incredible. I loved that Dom made him work for it. These two most definitely don’t have any easy go of it despite being inseparable as kids.

They have to go through some growing pains first, but the wait for them to get their act together was so worth it. TJ is one of the best writers in this genre that I’ve read and I’ve read a lot! This is book 3 in the Bear, Otter, and the Kid Chronicles and while you could conceivably read this as a stand alone since this book is from Ty’s the Kid POV and is about him and Dom for the most part, I highly recommend you read the first 2 books and then this one.

I love this series and I love TJ’s writing style. His books are serious and hilarious at the same time. The song, “All of Me” by John Legend is a perfect theme song for the characters in this series. The Art of Breathing basically starts off where the epilogue of Who We Are left off, which is 6 years after the events prior to the epilogue. The story line is set up and then segues into 4 years later, where the rest of the plot continues from there.

A couple of twists I wasn’t expecting and one I was hoping for, but I don’t want to spoil anything, so that’s all I’m going to say. We also get to meet a few new characters. The epilogue is epic for two completely different reasons, but it’s the epilogue and if you’ve read the other books, then you know Bear’s Gonna Freak. But it was the Author’s Note that made me tear up a bit because TJ said there will be one more book for Bear, Otter, and the Kid and while I am beyond excited to see how certain events change their lives, I am also sad because I don’t want it to ever end.

I am invested in these characters’ lives and nobody likes goodbyes. So, I highly recommend this if you enjoyed the first two or another of TJ’s books.
